2025 - ICEBREAKER GAME DAY

HI EVERYONE,

We are about to kick off yet another Calgary Hornets Icebreaker Game Day!!! This year it is even more exciting as we are celebrating our re-branding and new logo which many of you were participants in choosing our logo.

Information about the day will be posted here but will also be coming from your Managers.    Looking forward  to seeing all of you at the Icebreaker Game Day / Photo Day!

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?    All teams will participate in an Exhibition Game between a Hornet team or in some cases where there is not another Hornet to play at their level, a team from another club will be asked to participate.    What else - Pick-up your team shorts (and team socks  U9 - U17), face painter (between 11 am and 1:30 pm); Items to sell from our storage locker; Raffle Table/Silent Auction Items; Apparel Items/Swag for purchase; Photo Booth just to name a few things.    Will keep you posted.

How can Members and our Teams help?    

1.     Would your employer consider sponsoring part of this event?     We do not charge any team that is participating in the event whether it is a Hornet or another team.    We have expenses pertaining to food/drinks for our volunteers and referees, Face Painter, Silent Auction / Raffle Items, Floor Time for Event, etc.  Sponsors will be mentioned through our website and social media.  

2.     Do you own a business and perhaps would donate something to our Silent Auction / Raffle Tables?    No donation is too small or too LARGE!    

3.     We are asking our teams to provide a large item  or Raffle/Auction Theme Basket  (minimum value $150).   Some ideas are:   Family Game Night; Summer Fun; Mom's Basket; Dad's Basket; Dog/Cat Baskets; BBQ Basket; It's 5 o'clock somewhere - Beer, Wine or Spirit Basket, Afternoon Picnic; Movie Day/Night, Let's Roadtrip, the list is endless.    Any sponsors will be mentioned on our SPONSORSHIP BOARD and on SOCIAL MEDIA!   Teams will be provided with their Raffle/Silent Auction Theme so that we do not get duplications.    A Committee Member will be in touch with your managerr.    

Because our season is short, this is a great time to make this a social event for your team - have a picnic, tailgate lunch, snack time, throw the ball around.     Get to know your teammates and parents right from the start.  

For those individuals that chose volunteering at this event a sign-up sheet will be available after April 3.   Shifts are 3-4 hours in length.    We will also need a few volunteers to get supplies over to the Calgary Soccer Centre on Saturday, April 12th (between 4 pm - 6 pm).     More information will be added as it becomes available.
