HORNETS COVID SEASON UPDATES - APRIL 29

Apr. 16, 2021

NOTICE TO MEMBERS - AHS UPDATE - APRIL 29, 2021

Hello Hornets Families:

As per the AHS announcement earlier today recreational facilities will close effective Friday, April 30 for the next two weeks.   This will affect our 6U - 12U divisions from practicing indoors during this "pause" in youth sport.   This is unfortunate, but certainly understandable.

We encourage, and hope that coaches may take this opportunity to take their groups outside during this two week period.      Please remember to follow AHS guidelines regarding social distancing, even while outside, and that any sessions you hold need to be added to the Ramp App and the Covid Questionnaire completed each time.    Our hope is to keep the kids engaged with a sport that they love during this pause on indoor facility use.

Thank you and if you have any questions, please contact admin@hornetslacrosse.com.

NOTICE TO MEMBERS - AHS UPDATE - APRIL 15, 2021

Hello Hornets Families!

In light of the recent AHS announcement regarding indoor youth sport, I would like to provide clarification and how it impacts our club.

14U-16U will be on a 2-week pause from indoor play effective Monday, April 19th.  Groups in these divisions are permitted to participate in outdoor practices.

6U-12U will operate as planned, with the exception for players in 12U that are in Grade 7.  *** Those players in 12U that are in Grade 7 will not be able to participate with their group indoor; however, they can play if practices are taken to an outside field.

The Hornets are committed, while working with the CDLA, to ensure programming for all who would like to play lacrosse this season. The CDLA is planning a season start date of June 3rd, dependant on guidelines and restrictions.

With the province falling back to Step 1, and staying in-line with AHS/Government restrictions and guidelines, we have moved to a modified practice structure for the interim, until we are able to return to league play.

Players have been organized into like-skilled practice groups, and will be assigned 2 practices per week.  Groups are being encouraged to head outside for extra practice, as time and weather permits.  The practice schedule is in the process of being prepared.  As well, all players, staff, practices and groups need to be loaded  to the Ramp app, so please be patient.   All groups should be notified by Sunday, April 18th.  Practices starting Monday, April 19 for 10U and 12U (for those that have not had a practice).

These practice groups are NOT teams, and player movement will occur prior to final team setting.  Team announcement date is still to be determined.

Each practice group will be a max of 10 participants, including coaches.  2 practice groups will be assigned to each floor time; practices are to be 1/2 floor and groups are not to be integrated.  Players and coaches are to maintain a 3M distance at all times.

More than one group can practice on an outdoor field, but they are not to be integrated, and must stay within marked boundaries.

Players are required to wear a facemask at all times, with the exception of active play.  Coaches are to be masked at all times, no exceptions.

No parents or spectators are permitted to be in attendance at any indoor arena.  If observing outside, we ask just one parent in attendance, stick to the field perimeters, and maintain social distance.  Face covering is encouraged.

Players/coaches are asked to complete the online COVID screening in the RAMP app, no less than 2 hours prior to practice time.

Please use personal hand sanitizer prior to dressing, and for you safety upon leaving.

Players are asked to arrive dressed for play, 5 minutes before their scheduled time.  Line up, maintaining 3M distance at all times, at the marked entrance and wait to be directed in.  No group will be allowed entry until the prior group(s) completely vacate the building.

Players are to head directly to the assigned floor for their group, HOME or AWAY.

Players are asked to bring LABELLED water bottles, filled at home **no sharing.

Bags will not be permitted into the building. Change rooms will NOT be used.

Please observe arena rules, and follow all marked entrances/exits.

***IF you answer YES to any COVID screening questions, are exhibiting any symptoms or have come in contact/live with anyone who has NOT been feeling well, we ask that you PLEASE STAY HOME.  The Hornets also encourage a COVID test.

***IF you have a positive test, please notify Debbie Goodfellow, so that we may follow the appropriate safety protocols, and ensure diligence to keep all of our members safe.  All names and information will kept 100% confidential.

***IF a group has 2 or more positive cases, the group will be asked to refrain from practice for 14 days.  All group members will be asked to get a COVID test.

Groups are NOT permitted to gather socially, or to plan 'team' events until current restrictions are lifted.  Groups that do so, will face possible disciplinary action.

Parents are encouraged NOT to gather in the parking lot.  IF you choose to so, you are asked to please stay away from the main entrance/exits of the arena, and to observe all AHS guidelines.  Keep groups to a max of 10, maintain 3M social distance.  Face covering is also encouraged.  If the Hornets received notification of parent groups violating AHS guidelines while attending sanctioned Hornets events, disciplinary steps may be taken.

AHS has reviewed our practice structure, and we are considered to be a no contact, low risk operation.  That said, it is still important that everyone follow all the safety protocols that have been implemented to keep all participants and family members safe.

Thank you to all our volunteers who have stepped in, to help bring lacrosse back to our kids this season!

On behalf of the Hornets Board of Directors, stay safe and have fun!
